Dear _title and last name
I am writing to you about my concern that the NSW Government will not invest in the restoration of the rail line from Maitland to Bellbird and commence the regular passenger train services this growing population urgently needs.
********
Write in here why the introduction of regular trains from Newcastle to Bellbird is important to you personally and how it will affect your life and family. Remember to delete these tips before sending your email or letter
A personal piece carries weight when writing to MPs. Copy and paste letters not so much. Feel free to change anything here to suit your personal situation or write your own, main thing is that you write it today.
Print it out, sign it and post it as well as this is way more influential then sending an email.
*********
With the release of the NSW government's draft Strategic Regional Integrated Transport Plan at the end of 2024, I am left very dissapointed that the Train to Cessnock proposal has not been acted on in any way and the chance of our communities ever having effective rail based public transport is not likely to become reality in my lifetime.
The Train to Cessnock case is strong and affordable when compared to any other rail project in the country. The need for public transport is desperate in this community and the state deciding we are not important enough for this to be provided as a matter of urgency leaves us left behind as more marginal political seats have huge investments made; at the same time we are told the state is broke.
Please make the decision now to commit to acquiring the SMR rail corridor, securing federal funding for a full business case and future line upgrades if supported by that research.
Let's build a great hub in the Hunter Region that has excellent public transport options that will support our youth, our workforce, our less abled and our elders.
I look forward to your supportive and proactive response.
Regards
